Salil Ravindran is a finance transformational leader with over 25 years of global experience with a proven record of success in creating value for the organization and investors. He has worked in Technology, Telecommunications, Metals, Insurance, and Consulting industries and handled finance for more than 35 countries.

In addition to extensive experience in various finance fields like accounting, corporate finance, tax, investor relations, fundraising, M&A, etc, Salil has managed Legal, Secretarial, IT Infrastructure and Systems, and Human Resources functions for global corporations.

Salil currently is Partner at SmartFin Consulting, a CFO and corporate finance advisory firm, where he is the consulting CFO to many global companies across industries. He currently services on the Board of Proaegis, an accounting firm, and on the Advisory Board of few of his clients. Salil is also a Startup and Business Mentor Gopalakrishnan Deshpande Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, IIT Madras. He works closely with many organisations and colleges such as KSUM, SDM IMD, etc.

Before this, Salil was the Global Chief Financial Officer at Apexon Corporation and Marlabs Inc, both US-headquartered global technology firms. Prior to that, he has held senior leadership positions at Capgemini, IGATE and Infosys. Salil was also a member of the Board of Directors of the financial inclusion firm FIA Global, a leader in the Banking Correspondents (BC) industry, for six years.

Salil has had many notable achievements throughout his career. Some of these include leading the $1.5bn acquisition of Patni Computers after raising funds, acquiring ten companies and successfully integrating them, managing Wall Street expectations and overseeing the increase in the company’s valuation by 4x and stock coverage from 2 to 12, implementing Sarbanes Oxley Act, automating processes and implementing end-to-end system landscapes, turning around a full debt leveraged company into a profitable debt-free entity, providing exit to shareholders in last three major assignments.

Salil has won several global awards throughout his career in recognition of the work he has done. These include winning the CFO Powerlist 2020 Award from CORE Media, the New Jersey Business Journal (NJBIZ) CFO of the Year Award 2018, New Jersey Technology Council (NJTC) CFO of the Year 2018 Award finalist, and the CA Professional Achiever Award in the IT sector in the 9th edition of the ICAI Awards 2015.

In recognition of the work done in the Investor Relations field, Salil won the Silver Award in the “Investor Relations Executive of the Year” category and the Bronze Stevie Award for “Communications, Investor Relations or PR Executive of the Year” category in the 2015 International Business Awards. He was also honored at the 13th Annual American Business Awards in Chicago in 2015. Salil also won the CFO100 Roll of Honour from the CFO Institute India for hat-trick times (in 2020, 2018, and 2017) for being one of the top 100 CFOs in India.

Salil is very keen on promoting financial literacy and education. He taught “International Finance” paper for first-year MBA students in 2005 and “Management Accounting” paper for first-year MBA students in 2010 at the prestigious SDM Institute of Management Development, Mysore, India. He has also spoken at various management colleges like Christ University, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, etc. He is also an active speaker at various CFO forums and is often quoted in finance-related media articles.

Salil is married to Ambika Devi, a Chartered Accountant who is a Senior Director, Finance at Capgemini. He has two daughters, Niharika and Niranjana, who are 18 and 12 years old. Salil is astutely passionate about liberal arts and connoisseur of Indian classical music. He is also keen on fitness and good health. When not doing any of the above, Salil dabbles with wildlife photography, badminton, or watching sports on TV.
